Hello,
Does anybody know of a free musical typing app similar to how Garageband does it for Windows?
At the moment we are using Garageband in Music lessons for them to practice typing out music (such as learning Silent Night). We would like the pupils to be able to practice some more at home but obviously they would need windows software to do so.
It would need to be as easy to access as Garageband is. You just go to the menu at the top and choose musical typing window and off you go.
It doesn't need to be fancy and it DOES need to be FREE . Please remember that its for a Primary School, so i think Cubasis wouldn't be suitable.
TIA
A great time to prove that Windows users have the same choice of decent apps that OS X users have
- Step 2: On a Software Instrument track, open the Library pane and browse to Legacy/GarageBand/Sound Effects/Radio Sounds. Look closely and you'll see a small icon on each virtual key of the Musical Typing keyboard. Click the Details triangle to reveal the names of the audio files already assigned to them.
- While Musical Typing does disable many of the single-press keyboard shortcuts in GarageBand (such as selecting tracks and automation visibility), the R key is still usable.
- I just want to use musical typing to record a bunch of my own drum loops, but cannot find any sort of MIDI editor or even get record to enable for me. I have been using pro tools for 12 years, and garage band seems to be super non-intuitive.
